Meet the Team

  • I am Mrs Oultram, the Deputy Headteacher and the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). It is a real privilege to be working with such vibrant and talented young people in our small setting, catering to each one in a bespoke way. In my role as the DSL it is really important that I keep everyone safe and I work closely with outside agencies to ensure this happens. Egerton is a great school, full of enthusiasm and challenge. We teach the students how important having a strong value set is and about being decent citizens. We focus our attention on developing positive mindset, understanding ourselves better and the world around us. In our assemblies, we encourage our students to develop their thinking of themselves and to go where they are treated best; to challenge themselves, to become the keepers of their own mental health, to understand how the brain works and their own health, wellbeing and psychology. In a nutshell, we work tirelessly to ensure each student believes confidently in themselves and be able to navigate calmly the ever changing and challenging world they live in. As a result, we have tremendous “buy in” from our young people and our outcomes are fantastic. Many students return to visit us when they leave and have become Leaders in their own right, in the fields they have entered into. Here, at Egerton, we are truly student centred, creating in them a drive for future ambition. The future is not about their past and the no nonsense, “no victim” approach is one we know to be effective: Honesty-one of our core values. Our students are encouraged to achieve their goals with an “anything is possible” philosophy, and in their regularly reviewed Vision Boards, we are able to explore with them how to achieve their high aspirations too. We are proud to be different, proud of our achievements, and proud of the positive relationships we build.

I am Miss Watts, I have several roles within ourschool, Assistant Headteacher, SENCO, Deputy Safeguarding Lead and Designated Teacher, which bring lots of variety to my day at school. It is a real privilege to be workingwith all ourstudents and their familiesto supportthem in achieving their future aspirations. Asthe Designated Teacherfor all ourlooked after children I work with many different agencies to support them. At Egerton we value all ourstudents, their differences and share our values with them so that they are resilient enough to succeed far beyond theirschool years. Preparing them for the events in life that will test them at many different stages and develop them as successful individuals.

  • SEND Department

I am Miss Moore, the school’s Attendance Officer. I work with parents and carers to support our students to attend school as much as possible and to remove any barriers to attendance. I am based in school for the majority of the day, and also hold parent meetings and make visits to students’ homes to understand the reasons they aren’t attending, setting up plans to support their return to school. I focus on supporting students to improve their attendance levels, avoiding comparisons to other students, who may have different needs but instead focusing on what they achieved the previous term and academic year, making that their starting point and seeking opportunities to improve on this. Some of our students attend Alternative Provisions on a part time basis, part of my role is to oversee this arrangement by visiting the provisions on a termly basis and providing attendance support to our students and families that go there, in line with what they would receive at school.

I am Mrs McCormack the KS4 and KS5 Deputy SENCo, and Careers Lead and Advisor at Egerton High School and at our Sixth Form PROvision. Working closely with students and their families, I support students to meet their needs through yearly reviews of their EHCPs. As part of the Safeguarding Team, I attend meetings working closely with the Local Authority and all stakeholders. Since joining Egerton High School, I have developed our Careers Programme for all our students and which is now embedded in the curriculum. Our Careers Programme in Year 11 offers students the opportunity to visit local post 16 provisions, application support and taster days at our own Sixth Form. Our Sixth Form PROvision curriculum embeds our Careers programme offering a STEP further alongside the Employability qualification allowing students to update their CV, attend Mock Interviews and listen to talks from local employers in addition to offsite trips and work experience opportunities. Review through feedback questionnaires following Open events and off-site careers visits allows me to constantly review and adapt the careers programme to ensure all students achieve their ambitions.

I am Mr Till, the KS3 Assistant SENDCO, working with Years 7-9, supporting parents and other professionals for ongoing support for all our pupils in line with their EHCPs. We work on and offsite with multiple agencies to support the individual requirements for all our pupils, including the transition from primary or other settings into our nurture provision

I also want to show students that literature is a powerful way to understand and express their own emotions, ideas, and experiences. With a degree in Sociology, I have a deeper understanding of how different life experiences shape our perceptions of texts and the world. This background helps me build an inclusive classroom where every student's voice is valued. In addition to teaching English, I also serve as the Year 10 Nurture Lead. This allows me to support students both academically and socially, creating a nurturing environment where students can thrive in school and life beyond.

As the Care Team Leader, I empower our students to discover their unique potential, while also having embraced diverse roles such as PSHE teacher, teaching assistant, and attendance officer, each reflecting my commitment to our wonderful community. My extensive experience equips me to lead the Care Team with clarity and purpose, creating an environment where students are supported to uncover their highest priorities, develop essential social skills, and thrive in preparation for a fulfilling adult life.

  • Hello, my name is Mr J. P Madden and I lead the EV department. I am driven to pursue and to develop young people’s nurture and academic development during their time in EV. I see all our young people as the best versions of themselves – even when they do not see it yet. Outside of nurture, I enjoy music, reading and researching Psychological phenomena at a University level. Within EV, I lead a very vibrant and dynamic department supporting and challenging some of our most vulnerable students. Our successes speak for themselves, as often our young people develop the correct mindset and capabilities to return to the main body of the school or to support their success during their time in EV.

I’m Miss Cowling, Co-Lead of the EV department at Egerton. I support KS3 students with complex SEMH needs, helping them reconnect with learning in a safe, nurturing environment. My aim is to create a space where every student feels understood, supported, and capable of success. With a background in Psychology, I have a strong interest in evidence-based practice - particularly bottomup approaches to re-engagement. This means we start with the body and sensory regulation before moving to higher-level thinking and academic tasks - if the body feels prepared and safe, the mind follows suit! Techniques like grounding strategies, movement breaks, and play-based therapy help students feel calm, regulated, and ready to learn. To achieve this, I develop personalised strategies (both academic and social) that meet each student’s unique needs. Whether it’s supporting academic progress or social development, I deliver structured, engaging lessons that build emotional regulation, communication skills, and independence. I also work closely with families, staff, and external professionals to ensure consistent and robust support. Over the past year, we’ve seen real success - every student in our department has improved their attendance, progressed in their learning, and several have successfully reintegrated into the main school. I’m incredibly proud of the resilience and growth our students continue to show every day.
