EV

The EV department excels in the development and progression of students that face difficulties in their relationship with school, themselves and their lives. Our students our diverse and as such, we take an individualised, bespoke approach to ensure our young people reach their full-potential.

Our services provide care and support for a variety of clientele: Students with profound anxiety, depression, medical and neurodivergent characteristics.

Within the EV environment, strong relationships are formulated with key adults that explore their difficulties to create robust practical strategies they may use in the different facets of their life.

Each of these strategies are developed with therapeutic intent: Whatever makes the student feel good and to navigate the often-complex experiences they inhabit. This bespoke approach aims to build consistency, self-regulation, and unequivocal resilience.

We are not quixotic and understand that each student is unique. The therapeutic services listed are not exhaustive, as we attempt different therapeutic interventions based on the needs of our students:
Sensory Therapy
Play Therapy
Internal Dynamics Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural and Discourse Therapy
Social and Dialectical Therapy

Our therapeutic approach is inspired by leading work in the field of trauma conscious research. Utilising modern approaches to attachment, regulation and competency. We take both a bottom-up and top-down approach with all EV staff having a wealth of previous and continuing developments in the field of Psychology.

Within EV facilities, regulation is considered with student’s behaviour modelled by their Nurture Lead so that it may be use in later life; be it in social situations, Day to day activities or in times when routine is changed.

We do not expect perfection, instead aiming to develop students with steady progression. Each of these therapies aim to be holistic with a focus on self-regulation.

We are driven by providing the most successful outcome for our young people by equipping them with the skills to manage and thrive in their later life.

Examples of our successes

We are so proud of our students who have been working hard on themselves to demonstrate their positive mindset. We have been focused particularly on reading and writing and have examining how to improve our writing skills.

All students have worked incredibly hard, despite the challenge and are on track to achieve in further study. Well done for your fantastic efforts.

The EV Garden

This year, the EV department expanded its facilities by looking at the impact of nature and play on our psychological development. Students had the opportunity to create and lead their own garden space with all students designing and getting involved.

We are immensely proud of the endeavours of our young people and hope that many more may experience the beauty of the EV Garden.
