Philosophy for Children

Philosophy for Children is a tool for developing children’s higher order thinking skills. It involves group discussions about ethical or philosophical topics, such as fairness and truth. Often, there is not a right or wrong answer and so these discussions are designed to encourage children to ask questions, construct arguments and engage in reasoned debate. This not only strengthens their oracy, but also their empathy and emotional literacy.

Example P4C questions:

What is friendship?
What is intelligence?
Can we have happiness without sadness?
Is it worse to fail at something than never attempt it in the first place?
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
What causes crime?
If animals could talk, what would they say to humans?
Is it more important to be liked than respected?
